For information: the World Championship of dairy products is held every 2 years. The last championship was held in 2022 and the winner of the cheese competition was the Swiss cheese - "Gruyere".

The Swiss Gruyère cheese has been named the owner and winner of the 2022 World Championship Cheese Competition Grand Prix for the second time in a row and the third time overall. The cheese, called Gourmino Le Gruyère AOP, is made by Michael Speicher in Bern for Gourmino AG.

The manufacturer scored an impressive 98,423 points out of 100 in the competition, where an impressive number of 2,978 works were evaluated.

The second place in the competition, with 98,331 points, went to the cheese "Appenzeller Mild-Würzig", produced by Käserei Niederbüren AG in Niederbüren, (Switzerland).

"Erzherzog Johann" (ripened, hard cheese) made by Obersteirische Molkerei eGen (Austria) came third with 98,254 points.

The United States won 94 gold medals in various categories at the 2022 World Championship Cheese Competition, where 29 countries were represented. Swiss cheese producers - 10, and Dutch - 7 gold medals.

The World Dairy Championship, founded in 1957, is the world's largest championship combining cheese, butter, yogurt and whey competitions.

The next World Cheese Championship will be held on March 5-7, 2024 in Madison, Wisconsin, USA
